The app is not reading my card properly
Text recognition works best when the card fills the frame, sits flat, and is evenly lit. The usual culprits:
- ✓Glare. Glossy and foil cards bounce light at the lens. Tilt the card away from the light.
- ✓Angle. Shoot the card straight on rather than from a slant.
- ✓Low light. Use the torch button at the top right of the scan screen.
- ✓Stylised type. Heavily scripted lettering is harder to read than plain type.
It put the company where the person’s name should be
Some cards print the company larger than the person, which makes the two genuinely hard to tell apart. Tap either field on the review screen and swap them. Sending us the card that tripped it up helps us improve this.
Add to Contacts is not working
Cardkeep needs permission to add a contact. If you declined it, open Settings, then Cardkeep, and turn Contacts on. Your saved cards are unaffected either way and stay available inside the app.
How do I get my cards out of the app?
On the Cards screen, tap Export all at the top right and choose a format:
- ✓CSV opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, and is what most bookkeepers want for a bulk import.
- ✓vCard imports directly into Outlook, Google Contacts, Apple Contacts and most CRM software.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account and there is no server. The privacy policy has the detail.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later. Cardkeep runs on iPad in compatibility mode but is designed for iPhone.
