Who or what is eligible for a Wikipedia page?
Not everyone or everything is eligible for a Wikipedia page. For people, places and organisations to qualify, they must meet several requirements and have notable recognition in the media.
How do I determine if I meet the requirements for a Wikipedia page?
You would need someone to complete a notability assessment. That is a research-based analysis of publications and other media recognition of the subject.
Can you guarantee that my Wikipedia page will be approved?
No. No reputable Wikipedia page creation service can give that guarantee, because articles are reviewed and maintained by Wikipedia’s volunteer community.
What sources are allowed for a Wikipedia page?
The strongest sources are published, independent media such as magazine or newspaper articles. First-hand and self-published sources are not accepted.
How long does it take to have a Wikipedia page created?
This depends on many factors, including how much independent coverage exists, how quickly those sources can be gathered, and how long Wikipedia’s own review process takes. It can take a considerable time.
Can I make a Wikipedia page about myself or my company?
Wikipedia allows anyone to edit its pages. However, having a financial interest in the subject creates a clear conflict of interest, and creating or contributing to the page in that situation goes against Wikipedia’s guidelines.
What happens to a page if it is rejected?
There are various reasons a page may be rejected. The most common are promotional content, copyright-protected content and insufficient reliable sources. A page may also fail to meet Wikipedia’s general policies and guidelines. A draft can be revised if the reason for rejection can be properly corrected.
Are Wikipedia pages allowed to be used for endorsement or promotion?
No. Because of conflicts of interest, and to avoid advocacy and promotion, pages must not be created for endorsing or promoting a subject.
Can a Wikipedia article be written in promotional or marketing language?
No. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and articles are expected to be written from a neutral point of view. Marketing language and unsubstantiated statements have no place in a Wikipedia article and tend to invite further edits.
Can I edit a Wikipedia article?
Yes. Edits to existing articles are permitted to improve factual accuracy and add information, provided the changes follow Wikipedia’s policies. Editing is still permitted where a conflict of interest exists, but failing to disclose that conflict will raise concerns.
Is a Wikipedia article permanent?
There is no guarantee that an article will remain unchanged or be retained. The Wikipedia community may edit, challenge or merge an article at any time. Providing solid independent references and clearly demonstrating notability is the best way to keep a page stable.
